60,000 Meals ... We Did It!
Vale Church's Stop Hunger Now event on January 25 was a great success, with hundreds of people coming together from across the community to make a lifesaving difference for thousands of people in the world.
Together, we packaged 60,000 meals in seven hours with nearly 400 volunteers! Stop Hunger Now just notified us that our meals were among 285,000 meals shipped to Nicaragua, where they will be distributed by their in-country NGO partner, ORPHANetwork. (See letter below) ORPHANetwork operates 155 feeding programs throughout the country that nourish nearly 80,000 abandoned, abused and at-risk children each day. If you enjoyed being part the Stop Hunger Now experience at Vale (or missed it but would like to get involved), there is another opportunity coming up on Saturday, April 18 at James Madison High School to be part of a team of 1,200 volunteers who will package 250,000 meals. To donate or volunteer, visit: http://www.novastophungernow.org/ Again, thank you to everyone who contributed to this effort to end hunger. We hope to see you on the 18th or at other future Stop Hunger Now events! — Steve Miska, Vale Church Missions Coordinator |
